Makoto

Makoto Shimizu, known professionally as Makoto, was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1980. He began his music career in the mid-1990s DJing and producing hip-hop beats. At the end of the 1990s, he also became interested in drum and bass and began to produce tracks in the sub-genre of liquid funk, which combines elements of jazz, funk and soul with drum and bass.

In 2003, Makoto released his debut album 'Human Elements' on Good Looking Records, one of the most influential drum and bass labels of the time. Since then, Makoto has released music on many other notable labels, including Hospital Records, V Recordings and Innerground Records.

Makoto's music has been praised for its melodic and uplifting qualities, as well as his technical production skills. He has collaborated with many other drum and bass producers and vocalists, including MC Conrad, DJ Zinc and Deeizm. In addition to his production work, Makoto is also a respected DJ and has played at many events and festivals around the world, including Sun and Bass in Italy and Hospitality in the Park in London. Makoto continues to be an important figure in the drum and bass scene and has helped to introduce the genre to a wider audience in Japan and beyond.
